Home EV Charger Installation Cost in 2026: What You Actually Pay

By SSR EVTECH ·

A home EV charger installation has three parts: the charger, the cable from your meter to the parking spot, and, if you want one, a separate EV meter. With a Bolt.earth charger from SSR EVTECH, a typical 7.4 kW setup with 20 metres of cable comes to about ₹35,500 before the EV meter.

Part 1: the charger

These are the Bolt.earth AC charger prices used in our installation cost calculator:

ChargerSupplyCharger priceCable, per metre
3.3 kWSingle phase₹5,000₹250 (4 sq.mm)
7.4 kWSingle phase₹22,500₹650 (10 sq.mm, 3 core)
11 kWThree phase₹32,500₹650 (6 sq.mm, 5 core)
22 kWThree phase₹32,500₹800 (10 sq.mm, 5 core)

Pick the charger your car can actually use. A car that accepts 7.2 kW AC gains nothing from a 22 kW charger at home. The calculator suggests the right size once you choose your car and variant.

Part 2: the cable

Cable is charged per metre, from the meter or distribution board to the spot where you park. In apartments this run is often 20 to 50 metres, because the meter room and the parking are far apart. Measure it, or estimate it floor by floor, before you compare quotes.

Part 3: the EV meter (optional)

A separate EV meter bills charging at a flat EV tariff instead of your highest home slab. SSR EVTECH's EV-meter package, as shown in the calculator, is ₹27,000 for 7.4 kW, ₹32,000 for 11 kW and ₹40,000 for 22 kW. For 3.3 kW we quote after checking your site. See whether it pays off for you in the EV meter savings calculator.

Worked examples

  • 7.4 kW, 20 m cable: ₹22,500 + (20 × ₹650) = ₹35,500. With the EV-meter package: ₹62,500.
  • 11 kW, 20 m cable: ₹32,500 + (20 × ₹650) = ₹45,500. With the EV-meter package: ₹77,500.

Car company package vs an independent charger

Many car companies sell a wall-charger package that includes the first 15 metres of cable and charge for every metre after that. For example, the Mahindra 11 kW package used in our calculator is listed at ₹75,000 with 15 metres included. The independent Bolt.earth 11 kW setup above, with 20 metres of cable, is ₹45,500. The calculator shows this comparison side by side for your car.

What can change the final price

  • A longer or harder cable route, such as conduit through floors or a long trench
  • A load upgrade, or moving from single phase to three phase for an 11 or 22 kW charger
  • Earthing, MCB and protection work the site needs
  • GST and any extra material, confirmed in the final quote after a site survey

Frequently asked questions

Match it to your car's AC charging limit. Most cars that accept 7.2 kW are best served by a 7.4 kW charger. An 11 kW charger only helps if your car accepts 11 kW and you have a three-phase supply.

The calculator shows the charger, cable and EV-meter package. Installation is confirmed in the final quote after a site survey, along with GST and any extra material.

No. You can charge on your home meter. A separate EV meter usually lowers the cost per unit for homes on higher slabs, and gives the charger its own load.
